Upgrade to eliminate checked bag fees

When I checked in for my flight to Miami this morning I had to pay $40 to check two bags. However after that I was asked if I wanted to upgrade for another $40. Guessing they are like most other airlines and waive bag fees for first class I decided to give it a shot. As soon as I did select the option to upgrade I was notified my checked bag fees were in fact waived.
