The Idea: Create a chain of drive-throughs that sold nothing but fresh fruits, vegetables, juices, and healthy snacks. The key would be that everything must be fresh and ready to eat. So instead of getting a stalk of celery you would get one long piece of celery with peanut butter already in it. There should be enough variety of standalone fruit or vegetables to go along with minimal prep items to make a whole meal. Sample items could be apples already sliced with a yogurt dip, orange slices, bananas, carrot sticks, celery with peanut butter, eggplant and olive oil, salads, ambrosia, pineapple slices, watermelon cubes, cantaloupe cubes, honeydew cubes, cucumber sandwiches, cucumbers in vinegar, zucchini sticks, raisins, nuts, etc.
The Background: Driving home from a CPR class in Gastonia one night after 10pm all I wanted was a piece of fruit. After 10pm nothing but drive-throughs are open with nothing to offer but high calorie junk. I started thinking there must be others in much better shape then I that also crave better food that is super convenient at all times of the day.
The Possibilities: A whole brand could be built around this concept. Starting with a simple vendor cart in a downtown area beside all the taco and hot dog stands to see what works, the things people seem to like more, etc. Then you could expand the business to an actual location in town in certain strategic locations and continue to grow organically. A complimentary offering could be a line of vending machines with nothing but healthy food instead of all the crackers, candy, and junk food. Also a healthy, no pun intended, catering offering could be grown as well.
